That’s why facts don’t matter.
In entertainment, you’re allowed to take broad artistic license with the truth in the interest of putting on the best possible show.
So if you believe you’re just “putting on a show”, it becomes entertainment, not governance. We’re used to being entertained. He’s used to entertaining. It’s tailor made for his skill set. People like entertainment, and they don’t really question its source or its motives.
Some of us don’t think it’s entertainment, but as long as there are people who do, he’ll continue to find justification for his actions, no matter how extreme. It’s all just part of building the drama, y’know?
The scarier question is whether or not he really believes it.
