At least half of the disharmony in our daily lives isn’t caused by some actual thing that’s currently going wrong in the world. It’s caused by the relentless bombardment of other people’s opinions about why that thing is going wrong and what should be done to fix it.
Don’t waste your energy trying to respond. When you eliminate “what everyone else is thinking” from your brain, you think a lot more clearly yourself.
The debates will persist whether you add your voice to the mix or not. And even your best-crafted arguments, in print or in person, are unlikely to change the minds or actions of others.
Instead of fighting battles in the illusory realm of opinion, focus on solving the actual problems in the real world.
